Call for Papers
Applied Mathematical Programming and Modelling
Special Issue Editors: Ronald Hochreiter and Georg Ch. Pflug
Deadline for Submission: October 1, 2008
Purpose and Scope
A successful application of contemporary mathematical programming techniques requires a thorough optimization modelling environment. The whole optimization work-flow from plain data to final decisions must be integrated to cope with real-world complexity. Both the optimization technique as well as the given area of application necessitate special modelling strategies to allow for a successful implementation of quantitative results into the respective research or business process. This special volume focusses on modelling approaches as well as solution algorithms tailored to specific applications. Underlying optimization techniques may be convex or non-convex, exhibit combinatorial structures, or integrate uncertainty, e.g., stochastic and robust programming. Application areas include (but are not limited to) financial engineering, energy and environment, supply chain management, as well as recent Operations Research fields such as health care and life sciences. Manuscripts must be original, previously unpublished, and not currently under review in other journals. Participants of the International Conference on Applied Mathematical Programming and Modelling (APMOD 2008) in Bratislava, Slovak Republic (May 2008) are especially encouraged to submit their papers to this special volume.
Electronic Submission
Submissions are handled via the Editorial Manager online. Please choose article type Special: APMOD '08 when you submit your paper to the special volume. Furthermore, please visit the official journal homepage for detailed manuscript preparation instructions. Springer is dedicated to expediting the dissemination of research results. Final maunscripts of papers accepted for publication will be published online before the printing production of the volume is in progress.
