Workshop program

Part I: Introductory AIMMS tutorial

In this workshop we will start with a short overview of AIMMS. In the subsequent hands-on tutorial you will build an optimization application that uses the key aspects of the AIMMS modeling language: model declaration, linkage to external data sources, and Graphical User Interface building.

Part II: AIMMS Stochastic Programming tutorial

In the second part of this workshop we will introduce you into the stochastic programming features that AIMMS offers. After a short introduction into stochastic programming, you will transform a deterministic model into a stochastic one, generate stochastic data and solve the stochastic model.

Part III: Benders decomposition and Q&A

In the last part of the workshop, we will demonstrate a completed stochastic programming application, and use the open implementation of the Benders Decomposition algorithm in AIMMS to solve the stochastic model. At the end there will be time to discuss any questions that you may have.

 

Workshop materials

The workshop will be a combination of presentations and hand-on exercises. To participate in doing the exercises, we would like to ask you to bring your own laptop computer. All workshop participants will receive a free temporary license of the full AIMMS software, and a copy of the book “Optimization Modeling”.

All participants of the APMOD conference are welcome to participate in this free pre-conference workshop. Please register for the workshop by sending an e-mail to workshops@aimms.com. We will then send you a temporary AIMMS license before the workshop.
